Cobb County Police Stop Suspect After Multi-County Pursuit

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A suspect is facing charges after leading police on a chase through two counties on Tuesday morning.

Around 9 a.m., Cobb County police were alerted that Emerson police were chasing a vehicle on Interstate 75 southbound, heading into Cobb County.

Emerson police reported that Cartersville police had initially started the chase but lost contact with the suspect.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Malcolm Perdue from Riverdale, was wanted for aggravated assault and had fled from Emerson officers.

Just south of the I-75 and I-575 split, a Cobb County officer used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle, which then rolled over.

Perdue was arrested and handed over to Emerson Police. He faces charges from both Cobb County and Emerson police for fleeing, attempting to elude, and driving on a suspended license.

Authorities reported that Perdue sustained minor injuries, while no officers were injured. Traffic was briefly affected due to lane closures.
