Humidity Keeps Heat Index High Despite Dropping Temperatures

Aaron Burrell

ALBANY, Ga.  – There is plenty of moisture in the atmosphere, and a disturbance in the area will bring some showers and storms this evening. Temperatures will drop to the 70s tonight, but it will still feel like the 80s due to the humidity.

We have a chance of rain through Monday and Tuesday. The highest chance for rain is on Tuesday when a low-pressure system arrives, which could cause heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Temperatures will stay in the 90s with heat index values feeling like over 100 degrees.

A few more showers and storms are expected on Wednesday before a frontal system moves through later in the week. This will dry us out but won’t cool us down much. The heat index values will improve slightly but not significantly. Increased rain and moisture will return during the weekend.
