A 30-year-old man from Modesto drowned on Saturday afternoon in the Modesto Reservoir, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office received a call about a man in distress at the waterway at 12:21 p.m. Responding officers found the man at 12:29 p.m.

The man was brought to shore, where deputies began CPR. He was then taken to the hospital, where medical staff declared him dead. He was later identified as a 30-year-old from Modesto and taken to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this time,” the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office also reminded the community to wear life jackets, moderate alcohol intake, and swim with others who can help in an emergency.

This incident comes about four days after a 37-year-old man from Oakland drowned in the same reservoir while swimming with his family.
